_DES241_Weekly Blog no.5_ Extreme focus.

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

This week we continued working on the brief and the completion of it. I maintained my focus on writing the background and rationale alongside Wenlin. I wrote a couple of paragraphs around the context of the exhibition, and the artwork itself whilst my partner focused on the reasoning and significance of investing our interest in the artefact. In which it focuses on:

  • The idea of sustainable development and call to reduce plastic waste.

  • The accessibility and suitability for all the target viewers of the art piece.

  • The aim is to enhance the engagement experience by using aesthetically pleasing visual effects to address pollutions (i.e. speculative and augmented design) issues. As well as basing the context and design on the chosen artwork.

As we were writing on Tuesday evening, announced the national level 4 lockdown. Despite the inconvenience, we pushed through and maintained our cool. We did our meetings online instead of having meetings in person, which I didn't find a cumbersome issue because we had meetings online (before the lockdown), so it didn't feel weird. Other than the fact that I couldn't use the technical resources at design space, this lockdown was fine- if not, then it was very familiar.

Anyways, we continued, and we all put all of the individual works on a final document. Through discord, everyone gave each other feedback about the writing. Hence, a couple of days before submission, I focused on polishing up, adding references and citations, and ensuring that I am on the right page.

On the due date, we all did a last-minute polishing and quality check on the brief then our project manager submitted the work before midnight. Then we went about celebrating our first completed group assignment for DES241.
